The essays on Mostly Aesthetics are mostly about philosophy, and the arts, and aesthetics. They are sometimes about just one or the other, and, every once in a while, about something else. Now and then there will be a poem. The author, Brad Skow, is a philosopher at MIT.

All subscribers receive new essays by email. The most recent essays are free to read online. A paid subscription will let you read older essays.

Topics range from the qualities that make a story good, to the history of adoption; from form and meaning in poetry, or declining vision, to free speech, and liberalism and conservatism. There are poems about history and about the interpretation of quantum mechanics.
